There are many more conclusions that can be drawn from this data. Potentially due to its lengthy story endeavors with strange/criminal type characters. Meanwhile, the notoriety of GTA seems to be coming from more than just its violent content. This graph might imply that play time is an important factor in its popularity. Grand Theft Auto games are some of the best selling, while also being notorious for mature content.

The Grand Theft Auto series has some of the longest play times and therefore the lowest kill rate. Hitman’s notoriety for mature content seems to be less about with how many people are killed and more about its lengthy takedown scenarios. Hitman has all the lowest spots for kill number and kill rate. It seems the arcade shooter experience relies heavily on short play times & rapid kill sequences. This suggest that a game’s popularity is determined by more than just its kill number or rate.Īrcade style shooters like Virtua Cop, Area 51 & Lethal Enforcers all have very high kill rates. This is interesting because the Serious Sam games are not the most popular despite having these high numbers. Serious Sam definitely has the most top spots for highest kill number and kill rate. There are a few notable outlier franchises. The shortest games often have the highest kill rates.

Longer games appear to have lower kill rates. There is an inverse correlation between a game’s play time and kill rate. The majority of games with a high kill number, also have a high kill rate. So what did we learn? At first glance, there is an obvious correlation between a game’s total kill number and its kill rate.
